Freedom to Work Project

To Whom It May Concern:

Enclosed please find the results of the South Dakota Medicaid Infrastructure Grant (MIG) Freedom to Work Project Survey. The purpose of the Freedom to Work Project is to make changes to the existing Medicaid system to enhance employment options for South Dakotans with disabilities. The specific goal areas of the Freedom to Work Project are:

  1. expansion of Personal Assistance Services (PAS), and
  2. development of a Medicaid Buy-In (MBI).

The purpose of conducting the Freedom to Work Survey was to gather information and opinions regarding employment, health insurance, current services, need for services, and other information that was felt to be important in designing programs that would best fit the needs of South Dakotans with disabilities. These survey results were used by the Freedom to Work Leadership Council as a tool to supplement their ongoing efforts in this project.

Please note that the enclosed results reflect only the actual responses of the survey respondents. No conclusions are drawn in the enclosed document, but survey responses will continue to be analyzed and studied as Freedom to Work Project staff and Leadership Council members work toward the Project's specific goal areas.

Sincerely,

Ron Hoops
