Bridging South Dakota -

Is a collaboration of organizations coming together to end domestic and sexual violence against individuals with disabilities or who are D/deaf. We work to improve the capacity of professionals, both disability agencies and non-disability related, to provide safe, accessible, comprehensive, and trauma informed services to individuals with disabilities or who are D/deaf who have been subjected to sexual assault or domestic violence.

Partners on this project:

- South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault (The Network)

- South Dakota Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities (The Coalition)

- Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD)

Helpful Information

Tip sheets

The South Dakota Crisis Lines and Shelters resource list has the sexual assault and domestic violence crisis lines from across the state listed alphabetically. We included 2-1-1 which provides information about available services across South Dakota as well as nationwide contact information. On the back there are tips for talking to survivor, common phrases to use and a list of things to consider.  See Tip Sheet - South Dakota Crisis Lines and Shelters Tip Sheet.pdf

The South Dakota Agencies for People with Disabilities resource list has statewide resources and includes a small synopsis of what the agency does using plain language. On the back there are a series of guiding questions to ask to get more information and a section for notes to track the conversations with various entities. See South Dakota Disability Resource Tip Sheet - SD Disability Resources.pdf
